Weighing, Calibration of Volumetric Glassware And Data Analysis Jack Aaron Dweck 9/7/2020 Professor Gibney
Abstract The balances were calibrated properly, as the observed standard deviations were very small showing a high level of precision. As for the weighing by difference section, the mass of the NaCl in the bottle was shown to be conserved, as the weight transferred was shown to be the same based on the simple measurements. For the final part of the experiment, the burette readings and the volume delivered by calculations were very similar, showing proper technique and accuracy. The line of best fit was linear, and the least square fitting analysis confirmed the calculations to be correct. Introduction The purpose of the experiment was to calibrate certain instruments properly, and make sure that they are working properly. The experiment and its calculations went by very smoothly, for example conservation of mass, where we subtracted the weight of the bottles to find the weight of the salt and ensure none of it was lost. The values of volume delivered and burette readings
