Section Information: Section Course Time Instructor Office Location Office Hours 1 INTRO MGT INF SYS 1040- 1130AM Terry Landry 3184 Patrick F. Taylor Hall 12:30-1:30 MW Course Objective: This course is designed to teach the student about Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS). Topics will include Computer Concepts, Management Information Systems concepts, and various applications. This course is also designed to teach the student how to use many of the computer resources available at LSU. This will include coverage of the software in the Microsoft Office Suite. Emphasis will be placed on Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as these are the tools the student is most likely to utilize throughout his/her career at LSU. Class Meeting: ISDS 1100 is taught in the Auditorium in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Athletes. Cell phones must be turned off. Absolutely no food or drinks are allowed in the Auditorium. Students are to enter the Cox Auditorium through the south door – the door nearest the Journalism Building. Students are to exit through the north door. It is imperative that you follow these guidelines. Attendance to the class lectures is mandatory. The exams on the applications Word, Excel 1, Excel 2, and PowerPoint will be administered in the Patrick F. Taylor Hall 1104 lab during the weeks of 5, 8. 12, and 15. Lectures will still be given in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Athletes during those weeks. In addition, the student will register via the website http://www.cae.lsu.edu/default.asp for an exam time. Information on computer testing procedures is found later in the syllabus. Text Packet: The packet contains a textbook called Computers Are Your Future LSU Custom Edition, Bill Daley and an access code for the application entitled myitlab. . The access code in this packet can only be used by one student. Every student is required to have this information in order to take tests and complete assignments. Without this bundle, a student can not pass this class.
