Ladson-Billings states “The primary aim of culturally relevant teaching is to assist inthe development of a relevant black personality that allows African American students to chooseacademic excellence yet still identify with African and African American culture.” (pg. 17)While I do agree with Ladson-Billings that culturally relevant teaching should be the norm intoday’s classrooms, I would also like to address the fact that this book is nearly 30 years old and
