Cassie Morgan SPAN-152-001 Profesora McCabe 3 December 2007 Extra Credit: Celia Cruz While on Thanksgiving Break, my Mom and I went to go see an off-Broadway show titled Celia. It was an amazing show. I loved every moment of it. The music that they sang during the performance were great choices as well. The play allowed the viewers to have a better understanding of her life and how she grew to become so famous and to be known as “La Reina de Salsa”. An actor who played Celia’s husband, Pedro Knight, narrated the play. The play started when Celia was a young woman who had begun to enter singing contests to make her voice heard. She did not win them at first because she was considered to be too boring but then her Tía Ana taught her to dance. When she entered contests after she learned how to dance, telling her to shake her hips and move her shoulders, she began to win them. There were two actresses who played Celia, one sang and the other did the acting. Both were very good, especially the one who sang. She
