Name : Joseph “Fitz” Maro Lab Partners : Bryan Keelon and Laura Taylor Title: Chemical Bond, Molecular Models and Molecular Shapes Date: September 25, 2007 Abstract : - In this lab we applied knowledge from earlier chapters and lecture to construct simple ball-and-stick models for common molecules. The models will help the understanding of electron arrangements and the resulting shapes of molecules. The molecules created were mostly substances that are important in the atmosphere and in polluted air, like we previously discussed. In this process we learned of how “models” become very useful to chemists in understanding and predicting chemical properties. -Although it seems almost impossible to get wrong results with this lab, I can comment that with the visual aid of a Lewis Structure, building the molecules was much easier. Personally our results were perfect as far as I understand it, see the data sheet attached to see. Keywords:
