These
students
will
either
be
pursuing
a
degree
in
 pre‐medicine,
nutrition
or
culinary
arts.
They
will
receive
school
credit
in
return
for
volunteering.
They
 will
serve
as
a
mentor
to
these
children,
who
grew
up
in
impoverished
neighborhoods
and
may
not
 know
many
college
graduates.
In
addition,
the
college
students
will
be
close
in
age
to
the
high
school
 students,
which
will
allow
for
a
strong
mentor
relationship
to
grow.
There
will
be
three
mentors
per
 class,
45
in
total
will
be
needed
for
the
first
year.
Each
mentor
will
be
assigned
to
eight
children
to
 personally
work
with
and
ensure
that
they
are
receivingthe
proper
benefits
of
the
program,
and
will
be
 required
to
produce
a
packet
on
their
children’s
progress
for
their
final
grade.
