Unformatted text preview: Max Waller MLK biography January 21, 2008 Born in Atlanta Georgia on January 15, 1929, Michael Luther King was destined for greatness. At the age of 6, his father decided to change both of their names to Martin in honor of the great religious leader. In his youth, he enjoyed basketball, baseball, wrestling, and reading. However, all of these hobbies were inferior to his aspirations to become a pastor, like his father. A very intelligent student, he graduated from high school at the age of 15, began his college career and received an amazing 20 doctoral degrees before he finished. He emerged as the strongest leader in the fight for civil rights and non-violence. King possessed the supreme preaching capability.
