The vertical conflicts Netflix experiences involve content producers who compete for royalties and film licensing rights while horizontal conflict impact Netflix by using more creative ways of watching movies. Netflix increases value for its users through numerous methods of distribution functions, mobile devices and even mail delivered movies being some of its distribution ways. Some of the threats Netflix will face in future include new and similar technology by another company that is competing with Netflix movies. Netflix can be successful in the long term if it keeps up with the latest and current technologies of streaming videos hence being able to maintain their competitive position in the industry. Producers —Producers of TV and movies are the ones that make the content happen. These are the men and women who hire directors and actors. They write (or oversee the writing) of scripts. Studios —There are many film studios. Today’s “big six” include Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Walt Disney/Touchstone Pictures, and Universal Studios. These studios, together with dozens of small studios, are responsible for production (financing), marketing, and distribution of content. Theatre chains —Cinemark, Carmike, Century, AMC, and others, are the houses that show the content before it goes to video. Home video distributors —Blockbuster (brick-and-mortar), Redbox (kiosk), Netflix (by mail and streaming online), Hulu/YouTube (streaming online), HBO On Demand (pay-per-view/premium subscription), and iTunes (digital downloads), are just some of the many.
