Nancy Gonzales Virtual Impulse Lab Link: Purpose: In this lab, you will use your fire extinguisher to give astronaut Wally different impulses. For each impulse, you are to determine Wally's speed and/or momentum as he passes between the two photogates that are 10 meters apart. You can control the mass of Wally, the strength of the force from the fire extinguisher, and the time the extinguisher is on. You must end the impulse before he reaches the first photogate. When you are ready to start the experiment, click on the begin button. Scenarios: 1) How does increasing force-time, time that extinguisher is on, impact Wally’s speed and momentum? 2) How does increasing the extinguisher’s force impact Wally’s speed and momentum? 3) How does increasing Wally’s mass impact Wally’s speed and momentum? Scenario 1: a) Write a short procedure, use 2 or 3 complete sentences that will give you the necessary data for each scenario.
b) Identify the independent variable(s) and the dependent variable(s), in a complete sentence.
c) Identify any formulas you will use and how each variable will be collected.
