Winand 1 Garrett Winand Price English 101, 167 2 October 2007 300: A Masterpiece The movie 300 is one of the great films of this era and generation . The story line can only be described as epic and the battle scenes are some of the greatest out of any action movie ever made . There are a little bit too many science-fiction elements in the movie, but not too much that it harms the movie in any way . The writers of the movie did a very good job balancing the fact of the battle of Thermopylae and the fiction of the film . They gave us some of the best hour and fifty seven minutes that any cinematic production ever has . 300 begins by introducing the viewer to Leonidas as a child, and how he becomes a Spartan warrior and then Sparta’s King . From the beginning of the story Leonidas is portrayed as a great leader and a great hero . His decision to defy Persia and the “God-king”, Xerxes, is respected and understood by all his fellow Spartan warriors . The older members of the senate, under the influence of Theron, disagree with their King’s decision and do not allow him to take the army to war . Theron, throughout the movie, acts something as a foil to Leonidas . He is discovered to be a traitor and his treacherous, deceitful, and cowardly acts just illuminate how
