Introduction: There are three basic states of matter; solid, liquid, and gas. The goal of the experiment  is to determine the energy involved in the phase changes of ice melting to water, liquid  nitrogen vaporizing to a gas, and dry ice sublimating into a gas.  The Energy of Phase  Changes experiment uses the concept of heat of fusion which is the changing of phase  when freezing or melting. A phase change due to boiling or condensation uses heat of
