Clamp Pyrex tube upright, above the sand bath which is on setting 8 for 15 minutes, after which reset the dial to 6 2. Place 50 mg of both the Tetraphenylcyclopentadienone (TPCPD) and Diphenylacetylene (DPA) into the reaction tube without them touching the walls of the tube. 3. Once white product becomes visible, let the solution reflux on the walls of the tube, and then remove excess reagent by drawing the vapors out with a Pasteur pipette. Repeat until the mixture is completely melted. 4.
