Bernard Rollins- “May you live in interesting times”. Businesses must remain consistent with societal ethics in order to prosper. In the revolutionary times we have been in, businesses and politics must be ever-changing. Society says to professions to regulate themselves, within their expertise, for they know best how to manage their structures. Veterinarians gave antibiotics to farmers to feed to animals to increase production. Government stepped in, and tried to stop any use of veterinary power to prescribe for non-intended usage. In the last 40 years, society has raised the emphasis on ethical treatment of animals. In the ‘90s, treatment of farm animals became a hot-topic. “Farm animal welfare” outlined Rollins’ ideas of what needs to be looked into in animal welfare.
