WEEK 4 DISCUSSION 1: STEPPING STONES TO THE CIVIL WAR 2Week 4 Discussion 1: Stepping Stones to the Civil War The major causes of American civil war were the Lincoln Debate 1858, the Dred Scott Case of 1854, and the Kansas Nebraska act of 1854.In my post I will address the Lincoln Douglas debate of 1858.The main issue in Lincoln Abraham debate is when he insisted about theissue of right and wrong and he went further charging his opponents with the perception of tryingto uphold the wrong (Jaffa,2012). Lincoln thrilled Douglas with his desire to extend slavery in territories and as well in free states. This sounded as false accusation, however, Douglas vainly tried to ignore.Lincoln fundamental argument was that slavery was supposed to be death with because itwas morally wrong and also declaration of independence statement that all men were equal.
