DESIGN THINKING IN CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION2Design Thinking in Cross-Cultural CommunicationThe world's interconnections today are not like before, and the way organizations and businesses operate has changed. Effective Communication is key to the success of these organizations, but it takes understanding cultural factors around the people to enhance interaction. Therefore, there should be a plan to take into account the similarities and differences across cultural groups to engage everyone (Bharadwaj, 2019). Design thinking methodology by Stanford d. the school provides an approach that is solution-based to solve such problems, primarily because they are ill-defined. The method is powered by such elements as empathy and experimentation to get innovative solutions. The methodology first understands the human needs/ problems involved, reframe the issue in a human-centered way, creates ideas by brainstorming/ideating and puts the adopted ideas into prototype and testing. The approach has five steps: Empathize, Defining the problem, Ideate, Prototype, and testing. The steps can improve cross-cultural Communication in the following ways.EmpathizeThe first stage is to gain empathy by understanding the problem one is trying to solve. In this scenario, it is cross-cultural Communication in a shared living space. The stage involves observing, interviewing, engaging, and empathizing with the people to understand their motivations and experiences. After that, one immerses themselves in that physical environment to understand to what extent the problem is rooted in the organization. Observe what the barriers to effective Communication are. Then one can conduct qualitative interviews to examine their attitude towards various cultures. There is a need to ask the right questions on how clients can have exciting, meaningful Communication, or what is the client's biggest problem? The final thing is stepping into their shoes (immersion) to feel the first-hand experience. Creating
