The crude 4-Bromoacetanilide that was created in Part I was purified by recrystallization: theproduct was heated in a solution until it was dissolved, then it was precipitated out again at atemperature lower than room temperature by way of a seed crystal or scratching the glass tube.After purification, IR spectroscopy and melting point analysis were applied in order to analyzethe product. This experiment introduced both recrystallization and the FT-IR instrument.Experimental Procedure:The procedure was followed as described in Mayo’s manual pages368-371, with the modifications listed in the “Modifications for Electrophilic Aromatic
