The Roles of Women Socialization : is the process in which values and perceptions help to determine our roles in society. These values , beliefs , and perceptions tell us how to relate to others and how they should relate to us. Many of these values and perceptions are reinforced by laws and policies made by governments and society.

The Status of Women Status - refers to one’s position in the social, economic, and political hierarchy. Women generally have a lower status than men in most society even in industrialized nations such as the glass ceiling . How is status determined? Traditions Religion Politics Social beliefs Economic As societies become more industrialized and as women’s economic position is strengthened, the gap in status between men and women narrows.

Challenges-AIDS/HIV Women and AIDS/HIV? The epidemic of HIV is growing more rapidly in women in almost every part of the world. Between 2002 and 2004, the percentage of infected women rose or stayed the same in all regions. The prevalence is below 1% in both China and India. But the epidemic in those areas is expanding and could become explosive.
