The print ad and the commercial are trying to convince people who have arthritis that Vioxx is the best drug for elevating their pain. 2. These advertisements are effective because Dorthy Hamill is a known individual. By doing this Merck has associated their drug with a famous person which may persuade more individuals to purchase Vioxx. 3. These advertisements are very vague and lack information regarding possible side effects. This advertisement also disregards the other uses of the drug. 4. This ad could be more effective if they elaborated on how the drug performs, as well as the multiple uses for Vioxx. Part 2 1. Celebrex could have multiple target audiences including patients as well as physicians. The first target audience for Celebrex is all people suffering from arthritis, however focusing on former Vioxx users. The second audience would be the physicians prescribing arthritis medications. 1
