Most Northerners believed that slavery for the most part was wrong and inhumane, slaves were people too despite their differences physically.To them slaves were inferior to them and had the same worth as livestock and were treated as such.Sometimes the livestock was treated better than the slaves.The treatment of slaves in the South was different from those in the North that had slaves.
