The writing objectives for the FYW program outline the goals of competent college writing, from the first step of forming a thesis to being able to write a full-length research paper. My portfolio shows the transformation of my writings, from my first explorations of my changing topics to my analysis of the American Judicial System. While much of my style and technique remains the same as when I first started the class, WRD 104 helped me with specific problems that I’ve encountered over the years involving my writing, such as gathering good resources and refining my topic. I first started the class without any clue of what I wanted to write about. As my first assignment suggests, my thoughts were scattered and distracted when I was told to simply free write for two pages. While I enjoy free writing and letting my mind wander onto the page, I found that this distracted me from the formal sense of the class and was embarrassed when classmates wondered what I was talking about. Around this time, it was brought to my attention that each assignment would culminate into our final paper
