Summary This journal article discusses about Supply Chain Management (SCM), its importance and how organizations could benefit from incorporating Supply Chain Software and E-Commerce into the existing supply chain. A supply chain is the network of all the individuals, organizations, resources, activities and technology involved in the creation and sale of a product, from the delivery of source materials from the supplier to the manufacturer, through to its eventual delivery to the end user. An effective supply chain management would: improve operations, collaboration, quality and flow of goods; increase efficiency rate, inventory turnaround as well as profits and reduce overhead costs, thus giving organizations a competitive edge. An organization could greatly benefit from the use of Supply Chain Management (SCM) software. Implementing an SCM software would further improve the supply chain network; minimize days and enhance collaboration to a greater extent; and would help reduce costs to a greater extent. Evolution of Internet Technology has changed the nature of conducting businesses for a wide range of industries. Now, E-Commerce is replacing traditional commerce and is playing a significant role in how businesses operate. E-Commerce benefits both businesses and consumers by impressively reducing transaction times as well as reducing costs for businesses and prices for consumers. From a business viewpoint E-Commerce also helps provide better customer service, improve brand image, simplify business processes, reduce paperwork and increase productivity. Integrating E-Commerce on the supply chain enhance interaction between the planning systems. It would provide greater information visibility throughout the supply chain through connectivity among trading partners, enable businesses to receive faster feedback, enhance collaboration globally, lower inventory, allow to fulfil customer demand much faster, increase market share and reach. Leading supply chain operators who can promptly and successfully incorporate these new changes in their supply chain and best harness the opportunities provided by modern technological advances will gain a major competitive advantage over their slower competitors.
