Portfolio Reflection Essay: We have almost reached the end of a semester of learning about the history of American Civilization to 1877 and about the nature of history itself as an interpretive enterprise. As you know from the syllabus I handed out at the beginning of the semester, you should have been organizing your written work for this course in a binder. Now it is time use it to relect upon what you have learned. Your first task for this assignment is to read through all of this material carefully. You might begin by looking at the all the course material in addition to Zinn and Johnson we have examined, as well as your reading and class notes on and marginalia related to the readings by Zinn and Johnson. Your task is to write an essay of 3- 5 pages that answers the following question: How would I describe my journey as a student of American Civilization in this course, and what evidence from my portfolio can I provide to support my reflections?
