1Effective Goal SettingSetting a goal is like a commitment to yourself to be able to achieve something that youreally want (College Success, 2015). It requires effort and compromise. Some goals are easy toaccomplish while others are very difficult. As an example, I remember when I was an adolescent,around 15 or 16-year-old, I wanted to lose some weight and to get in shape. Therefore, I set upthe goal of assisting to a gym three times a week and to start dieting. However, I didn’t succeedat this, I didn’t accomplish it. I subscribed to the gym but ended up assisting only for two weeks.Also, the diet only lasted for almost a month. I think I wasn’t successful at this because I didn’tput as much effort as it was required to be able to achieve it. I found every excuse possible toavoid the effort and to skip the gym and to cheat on the diet. I just didn’t focus enough on thegoal.On the other hand, I was successful in achieving a goal during my mid-twenties. I
