When the mother refuses to identify herself as a Canadian or American, the family is not allowed to cross the border. The narrator and his mother spend the next two days in between border, at the Duty-free shop in the parking lot, and spending the nights, sleeping in their car. Narrator’s mother shares multiple stories of the stars during the second night.
