Bullying•Bullying is nothing new, it has been around for decades, the difference today is more ways to bully someone. One of the leading causes of bullying is cyber bullying. There are different forms of bullying and we need to be sure we can determine what type it is and how to stop and prevent it from occurring. What is the impact?•Bullying affects people in different ways and it can have a major impact on their education.•Many of the impacts are:•Not wanting to attend school•Low self-esteem•Turn to substance abuse •Depression•High risk of suicide
Resources for BullyingParents and teachers need to be able to see the signs of bullying and work together to notice and stop bullying. Drug and Alcohol Abuse•“Adolescence is a time of rapid change and maturation. It is also a time of experimentation.”•This time period is very important for students to identify who they are and what boundaries they can push. What is the impact?•Because the brain is still developing, using drugs and alcohol can change the dynamics of the brain in adolescences. These major changes include:Behavior:•Poor performance in school, Avoiding school (skipping), Getting in trouble at schoolPsychological:•Development of mental disorders, Taking unnecessary risk, Emotional instability Health:•Unhealthy weight loss or gain, Organ failures or disease, Health issues into adulthood
