A null hypothesis states that there is no difference while an alternate hypothesis states that there is a difference between the variables. The directional hypothesis states that a variable is greater or less than another variable, giving a direction to the result, while non-directional hypothesis does not state this rather a non-directional hypothesis just states the difference between variables which would be in either direction. One-tailed tests have a one-sided distribution of scores based on the directional hypothesis while two tests have a two-sided distribution of scores based on non- directional hypothesis. Null Hypothesis (Ho): A null hypothesis means that there is no difference between mean scores of the experimental groups. For example, it would state that there is no difference between mean scores on an intelligence test taken by children and adults. It means the intelligence level is the same of two groups.
