1. Why were the Patriots able to defeat Britain in the Revolutionary War? The Patriots were able to defeat Britain for a plethora of reasons. These reasons included the fact that Britain wasn’t well prepared in terms of supplies but that the Patriots also had George Washington and the perseverance and willingness to keep fighting. The Patriots went against the opposition who had better trained armies, more weapons, and larger forces. All of these factors were not in the Patriots favor but they were able to succeed. 2. How did the ideals of the American Revolution impact France, and later, Latin America? The ideals of America impacted France at first due to America's influence. The French were shown that they held more power united as they thought. The French were influenced to overthrow their own king in result. Latin America was later influenced as it was the first modern movement of a community without colonies. America had a very unique form of government and due to the many movements that caused these changes, the French and Latin America was influenced. 3. What were the positive and negative characteristics of the Articles of Confederation? One of the positive characteristics was there was less of a chance of a dictatorship. Although this was positive, there were also negative characteristics such as weakened relations with other countries and corruption with risks like economic issues and more overall crime. In return, Antifederalists were satisfied while many others were not. 4. How did the US government deal with the growing migration and expansion in the northwest, and how were American Indians in the region affected by these decisions? The expansion of the Northwest created the Northwest Ordinance and resulted in a chartered government for this territory. The American Indians were negatively affected by these decisions as more of their land was taken, and they in the end had to leave many resources behind such as their known rivers and forests. 5. What challenges did Washington face during his presidency (both domestic and foreign)?
