Design Thinking Competition Fall 2020Introduction:Ball launcher: Playing ball sports e.g. football, tennis, badminton squash are fun and goodexercises. In most sport activities, one needs to practice the shots and receive many incomingballs. Imagine a device that helps you throw balls at you with different speeds, power andangles. The purpose of this project is to design a low-cost table tennis ball launcher. A 3D virtual prototypeshould be developed by using SolidWorks software before the fabrication process and tested for functionability. This fabricated prototype should be able to shoot the ball in three different directions, whichhelps the user to practice almost all types of strokes in this sport. The machine is to be tested andanalyzed in terms of ball speed, ball shooting coverage and shooting success. In this competition, different teams of the design thinking students will be asked to design and build their own 3D printedball launcher.Ball out frequency: 15-30/ minutes; Ball speed: 4-20M/S; 3 angle setting; Spin direction: 2(spin, up and down, right and left; Load ball: More than 32 pcs.Final Project Objective:To encourage innovation and maintain a fresh design challenge, this competition provides students anopportunity to use the design thinking process in designing and building a 3D-printed, Ball Launcherusing low-cost gadget. The launcher should have the ability to launch tennis balls at a recommendedfrequency with an adjustable angle.Design Thinking in SportsBall launcher
Design Thinking and Project Description:In this project, the students are requested to find innovative ideas in designing a 3d-printed tennis balllauncher using low-cost materials. Through theEmpathy Stage
