Learning = Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning = Pavlov (Pavlov’s Dogs) Conditioned stimulus (CS) Unconditioned stimulus (US) Definitions Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS) = stimulus that automatically produces (or elicits) a response prior to any training Unconditioned Response (UCR) = Conditioned Stimulus (CS) = neutral stimulus that is paired w/the US during conditioning Conditioned Response (CR) = Classical Conditioning (cont’d) **Before Conditioning: Food (UCS) →→ Salivation by dog (UCR) Bell (CS) →→ No salivation (no response/irrelevant response) **During Conditioning: Bell (CS) paired with Food (UCS) →→ Salivation (UCR) **After Conditioning: Bell (CS) →→ Salivation (CR)
