Legislative Process for Health Policy The major goal of health policy is to ensure the protection and promotion of an individual’s health and also that of the community. It involves the process of creating and implementing laws that help govern the healthcare system of the nation ( Umberson, 2010). Formation or changing of the health policy laws must follow the legislative process ( Weissert & Weissert, 2000). Here the sponsor represents the bill to a committee which studies it and if it passes, it is released and put on the calendar for voting and for possible amendments. If it passes, it then moves to another committee in the senate which also debates and votes on it. If changes are made on it then it goes back to the house for correspondence then back again to the senate to approve it. Then its finally presented to the president who rejects it or signs it into law in ten days. Therefore, not all bills get to the presidential evaluation. Many bills are presented to
