Task 1 A.Videos Identified 1.“Learning about Cultural Identity,”2.“Building Classroom Community through the Study of Chinese Art and Culture,” 3.“Determining the Influence of Media on American Culture and Stereotypes,” B1. Cultural Needs Video 1: This video showed students learning about intentity and cultural differences. It shows the importance of students recognizing their own cultural backgrounds. As well as appreciating and understanding that not everyone has the same as them. Creating a strong understanding and developing cultural awareness and needs. Students will grow to see the world through the eyes of others. Video 2: Growing the students ability to understand the culture of a fellow student, the classmates were working on learning the culture of India. The lesson allowed the students to learn and understand that not everyone shares the same background as themselves, which can be a great opening for class discussions. While learning about new places and cultures, students were able to compare and contrast cultures, opening up for a better understanding. This lesson compared American and compared them to cultures such as Asian, from China. Video 3: This video reflects how the media can and does influence the American culture. Being familiar with American standard and how it evolves within the media, this helps the students to obtain a better understanding and perspective. The students are able to take in our culture and actions and understand the reason for why we are the way we are. The video opens up the chance for the students to see how television shows and movies help people develop their ideas and thoughts. Furthermore, Fashion and verbal slang are often imitated and spread from coast to coast quickly. The students gain the ability to see how the media influences our culture and helps them understand the events that occur because of them.
