Irving Miramontes PHYS 1403 CRN: 23321 Monday 2:30 – 4:20 Date of Experiment: February 25, 2013 Experiment No. #1 Newton’s Third Law of Motion Aim: The aim for this experiment was to test Newton’s third law of motion; which states if two different bodies, A and B, exert forces on each other, then the force that A exerts on B is always equal and opposite to the force that B exerts on A. By conducting the experiment we were also able to see if different masses had an effect on newton’s third law. Apparatus: PASCO Model 700 CI-6560 Signal Interface II Interface Box PASCO DataStudio Software Computer with Microsoft Windows Weights Two Carts with force sensors and removable hooks Ramp String Experimental Set-Up: Experimental Procedure:
The computer was started and the PASCO DataStudio Software was ran. The carts and the Interface Box were connected to each other and turned on prior to turning in the
