In short, it means doing your own work and not cheating, and not presenting the work of others as your own” (Lumen Learning). If a person is notacademically honest and is getting their work from somewhere else without acknowledging thesource, it is not only unfair to other students who are putting in the time to do the work, it is alsounfair to oneself. Someone who is academically dishonest is hurting their future self. They willhave trouble in the future when they end up having to do work for themselves.Academic honesty is important because it shows the writer’s true knowledge andopinions. It shows how the writer worked hard and took the time to explain their knowledge inwritten form. When someone plagiarizes another person’s work and claims it as their own, theyare completely disrespecting all aspects of the original author’s hard work. Academic dishonesty
