WOMEN SUFFRAGE IN PROGRESSIVE ERA 2 Women Suffrage in Progressive Era Throughout history, women were subjected to different experiences as the world advanced towards the modern era. During the ancient period towards the progressive era, women were categorized as inferior to their male counterparts (Mckeown, 2018). The progressive era marked a developmental journey that changed the way women were perceived from a conservative nature to a tolerant culture that recognized and accepted as significant beings of equal measures to men hence deserved rights such as voting. Women such as Susan B Anthony steered women's rights movements for equality and empowerment. The women fought so hard to be granted the right to votes since they argued against what historians labeled as “Cult of True Womanhood.” This idea emphasized that a woman was to be a submissive wife confined within the four walls of her home.
