1. Describe the five components of the agricultural revolution. What are the environmental costs of each? The five components of the agricultural revolution are Machinery, land under cultivation, fertilizers and pesticides, Irrigation, and high-yielding varieties of plants. As the coast of oil rises so does the cost of food production. 2. What is the Green Revolution? What have been is limitations and its gains? The Green Revolution is when technologies were introduced into the developing world. There, they gave birth to the remarkable increases in crop production. 3. Describe subsistence agriculture, and discuss its relationship to sustainability. Subsistence Agriculture is when farmers live on small parcels of land that provides them with the food for their households and, it is hoped, a small cash crop. A family owns a small parcel of land for growing food and maintains a few goats, chickens, or cows. This system is sustainable because crop residues are fed to livestock, livestock manure is used as a fertilizer, and the family is making the best use of very limited resources. 4. How do sustainable animal faming and industrial-style animal faming affect the environment on different scales? Sustainable animal faming and industrial-style animal faming affect the environment on different scales because so much of the plant crop is fed to animals, all of the problems of industrialized agriculture apply to animal faming.
