Key Terms Definition Applicability Misclassification Bias Can occur when the means for obtaining information about the subjects in the study are inadequate so that as a result some of the information gathered outcomes is incorrect We can misclassify a person exposure status. We can believe the person was exposed when they really weren’t. Selection Bias Cases or controls are chosen in a certain way so that an association seems apparent If a study is being conducted on the possible relationship of a disease and exposure and the response rate is higher in people who have the disease who were exposed, then people who have the disease but were not exposed.
