Kyle Garrity Professor Sharyn Nelson EN-101-I Assignment 5 11/9/07 Throughout my schooling years, I have had many experiences that illustrate the involvement and inclusion in a community and contact zones. Although these experiences have occurred all throughout my life, many of them occurred in school. Pratt defines a “contact zone” as “social spaces where cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other” (Pratt 519). My school was a large community in itself. With close to 1000 students, we may not of all been the same people who did all of the same things and had the same views, but we were all after one thing, an education. We were also all from the same area, as our school district was relatively small, so we could all relate to the same town. Quinnipiac is its own community because for one reason or another, we all selected this school over others. Many of us are interested in similar majors that are popular at this school, or just love the beautiful campus and its location. I think Quinnipiac is more of a
