Kyle Garrity MSS 101-E 12/10/07 Final Exam 1. I agree with the New York Times statement. If mobile phones become less restricted, there will be so many more possibilities that consumers will begin to demand for. From personal experience, I can easily see why phone companies will begin to eliminate restrictions. The phone company I am currently with is Verizon Wireless, and they are the most restricted company of them all. Friends who are with companies such as AT&T or T-Mobile have much more freedom with their phones, such as being able to connect it to their computer and sync ringtones and contacts. Verizon has all of these features but on a restricted, expensive level. “Consumers deserve more competition and innovation than they have in today’s wireless world,” says Eric E. Schmidt. Consumers want to be able to do more with the phones and service plans they are paying so much money for. As stated in the NY Times article “Google to Join Spectrum Auction”, Google is bidding to enter into the mobile platform. The article says that “the
