Michael Rambadt Freshman Composition II 3/13/08 Censoring Imagination? Pornography is a controversial debate that has raised fundamental issues regarding the question of when and on what grounds the government is justified to use its power to limit the freedom of individuals. Some feminists are pro censorship (allied with former enemies conservatives) because they feel pornography is degrading towards women and violent pornography helps rapes and beatings happen in real life. On the other side of the debate are liberals and feminists who do not believe that pornography causes violent behavior towards women in real life. People in this country are given the right to express themselves freely and if some want to express themselves through pornography then they should be able to, no questions asked. If pornography becomes censored then the most basic right of freedom will be lost forever.
