Scientists have concluded that global temperatures have increased by 1 degree Fahrenheit over the course of the last century. At first glance this may not seem very significant, however scientific researchers predict “average U.S. temperatures could rise another 3 to 9 degrees by the end of the century” (Consequences). An even more alarming statistic is that “since 1980, the earth has experienced 19 of its 20 hottest years on record” (Consequences).
