9/12/07 Amazing Grace strophic song - melody stays the same but the words change from repitition to repitition pentatonic melody - only 5 notes used to make the melody Assignment - create a strophic song using the chord progression that you came up with for today's class. doesn't have to be in 3/4. first 8 measures will end on a dominant (V) chord and the 2nd 8 measures will end on a tonic (I) chord. melody does not have to be the same between the 1st and 2nd phrases but somehow sounds like it is related. Create a pentatonic melody off of your chord progression. Does not need words, but can add words to it if want to. Optional - Go online and look up Harry Warren and read about him if you want to, not mandatory. 9-26-07 circle of fifths Assignment - Experiment, start writing a song that is in one of two forms.
