PART ONE In the novels, “ The Bean Trees ” and “ Pigs in Heaven ”, by barbara kingsolver, tools like imagery, foreshadowing and conflict are used. The theme of how tolling it is to bring up and raise a child are represented in both novels. They both discuss the life of Taylor and her daughter turtle, who she picked up and decided to raise in “ The Bean Trees ”. The idea that circulates around both novels is that blood is not the only thing that considers people family. This is shown very obviously as the main statement in both of these novels. PART TWO There is major conflict shown when Taylor realizes she could lose Turtle. This hits her like a brick and makes her want to work harder for her life with Turtle. She works to get a job and home for her and Turtle. Trying to work for this makes her realize that obtaining these things is actually more difficult than it seems.
