Although schools may take measures to attempt to reduce bullying andcyberbullying rates among the student population, it is not always possibleto accomplish this goal. Schools within the United States have put in placeprograms within schools to raise awareness and prevent students frombullying each other but despite these efforts, “studies have shownrepeatedly that the most highly regarded bullying prevention programsrarely produce more than a minor reduction in bullying and often result inan increase” (Kalman, I. 2018, October 24). How can all of these measuresbe put in place only to produce a small reduction in the occurrence ofbullying, and even sometimes an increase in bullying following theseprograms? Researchers who have created such failures of anti-bullyingprograms may offer one reason for the programs failure to reduce the rateof bullying within schools: the programs were not implemented withsufficient consistency or intensity.
