Air Quality Debate:Governmental Contributions The government has been doing a phenomenal job at reducing the pollution in our atmosphere and has helped us stay away from harmful gases. The Canadian government has been regulating industries since the 1960’s to help reduce pollution and stop harmful gases from damaging our health. Many things are being done today by the Government of Canada to reduce industrial pollution, and the toxic substances from large industries like power plants. They are doing what they can to fight air pollution and ensure the air Canadians are breathing is clean, fresh air. Base metal smelters are required to prepare and implement Pollution Prevention Plans and to inform everyone in Canada that everyone needs to conform to the agreement of an Environmental Code of Practice for Base Metal Smelters and Refineries. Minister Ambrose promotes the idea for Base Metal Smelters by stating that, “The health and prosperity of
