Ethics in Computer Programming In all lines of work, ethical consideration is necessary. In most, the values are mostly akin to the values that one should carry in life. Computer programming is no exception. Computer programmers are expected to act in a manner that reflects their honesty and compassion for others. ACM and IEEE outline the code of ethics that a computer programmer should follow. For the most part, computer programming requires the similar values as one should carry in life. As human beings, computer programmers have an ethical responsibility to their earth and their fellow human beings. They should not harm others. “Harm” encompasses all manner of wrongs. They must respect all types of people from all kinds of backgrounds. They should never discriminate against others. They should never demean others.
