Anderson English composition 10 September 2007 Born to Kill; I Come in Peace Confusious said “an image is worth a thousand words.” What if the same image posed an emotional argument? An image can instantly become worth ten thousand words when fueled by emotion. Looking at the image of Joker’s helmet in the movie “Full Metal Jacket,” one may notice that on the side it says “Born to Kill,” yet ironically, also bears a peace sign pinned next to this bold text. This picture sends an incredible variety of emotions. Two main messages are sent through this image, one being violence and one being peace, and this persuades the viewer to question the meaning of this argument. Upon extensive examination of this image, the main argument seems to be that Joker is torn between two opposite ideals in which he believes in equally. It may be considered that while he is at war, proudly fighting for his country, he is also showing that he strongly believes in peace. However, there is a deeper, more hidden message here that the image is trying to portray, and the
