ECE425 LAB ZERO FALL 2006 August 28-Sept 1, 2006 - Self Study/Review Exercises (Instructor Availability: to be Announced) INTRODUCTION This is Lab 0. It is intended as a refresher for students who took ECE220, and as a means for self-evaluation for students who have perhaps had a different educational history. While mainly a review, there are a couple of items intended as a challenge, so don’t get discouraged, and come for help when you need it. No formal labs are scheduled for this week (Lab 1 begins the week of Sept 4), so you should plan to do this work on your own time. No report is required for Lab 0. A few “answers” will be provided later as a means of illustrating the general nature of the type of lab reports we expect. SYSTEMS - FILTERS A discrete time system has a transfer function: H(z) = 1 + 2z -1 + 3z -2 + 4z -3 + 3z -4 + 2z -5 + z -6 What is the impulse response h(n) that corresponds to H(z)? Is this FIR or IIR? Find two systems H 1 (z) and H 2 (z) which if placed in series would be the same as H(z). Find the zeros
