Carrie Gamper Images of Culture Professor Headrick February 20, 2008 VA’s Necessity for P.C. Bright red captures the viewer’s attention and with the aid of excited smiles, bold print and motifs; this advertisement seems to entice the viewer to visit Virginia . The Virginia travel guide where this advertisement has been placed is easily accessible at any Virginia rest stop and is free to all . The scene on the top half of the advertisement depicts tourists and actors in Colonial Williamsburg . The bottom half of the advertisement has a bright red background and reads, “ live passionately . Virginia IS FOR LOVERS” This advertisement, meant to entice one to visit Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, loses its purpose due to its attempt at political correctness (P.C.) . When viewing the multitude of faces in the advertisement one can easily get distracted from the message of the image . Pictured on half of the one page advertisement are a total of fourteen people, who appear to be of varying ages and ethnicities . There are four children pictured, two young adults, six middle-aged adults and two senior citizens . There are six white people, five black people, two people of Hispanic decent, and one eastern woman
