TRAINING SESSION FOR POLICY IMPLEMENTATION2Training Session for Policy ImplementationIntroduction The ability to implement change is crucial to the success of any organization. Certain elements are necessary for effective policy change to take place. This includes a culture that promotes change as well as a functional, effective leadership structure. Effective leadership is needed for policy change to be successful with the key being leadership that understands the change, supports the change, explains it and can motivate the organization to commit to the change (Gesme & Wiseman, 2020). Nurses in leadership positions have a responsibility to advocate for policy change that meets the expectations of patients, families and the business. Evidence-Based StrategiesThe expectations from patients for the use of evidence-based healthcare is growing however, the most difficult step in implementation of new policy process is usually left to busy nursing staff who could be unprepared for this challenge. Failure to teach staff the use of effective implementation strategies can result in the use of strategies which are ineffective. Implementation Strategies for Evidence-Based Practice and Policies is organized to help nursing in selecting appropriate strategies. The first strategy is to simply create awareness and interest inthe role group. This can be done by introducing the policy change and highlighting the advantages and anticipated impact. The next strategy to be used is to build knowledge and commitment among the role group. This can be done by educating the staff on how the new policy will have positive outcomes on the patient population. Next is to promote action and adoption of the new policy. This is done by initiating a training session as well as charting prompts to remind the nurse to proactively screen each patient (Cullen, 2012). These strategies
