Public Policy, Policy Cycle, and Policy Theories 2 Thesis Thesis: The two economic policies chosen are the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) and the Bank Secrecy Act of 1970 (BSA). Both would be best analyzed by institutional theory. Per ScienceDirect institutional theory focuses on the parts of social, political, and economic systems in which companies operate and gain their acceptability (Debroux, 2010). Institutions affect policy including government and corporations such as banks, credit unions and other financial organizations. Both acts were implemented to protect the financial system, consumers, and the American public. Outline I. The policies chosen were the Dodd-Frank Act and the BSA. a. Both policies selected are related to the financial industry and economic policy.
